After much anticipation the 1st StarDrop User Group Meeting and Workshop turned out to be a great success. We would like to start by thanking everyone who took the time to attend and also our two guest speakers, Dr Mikel Moyer and Professor Terry Stouch for the excellent presentations they shared with us. From the feedback we've had so far it was all very well received and we'll be holding another again next year. We will post details here as soon as we've got a date for 2011.
For those that weren't able to be at the ACS Fall 2010 meeting in Boston where we held this workshop, we have put together a brief summary which contained a mix of hands-on application of StarDrop to a practical Drug Discovery challenge and presentations (follow the links below to see copies of these on the community site) as follows:
- Welcome and introduction - Matt Segall, CEO, Optibrium
- Hands-on StarDrop workshop: Quickly targeting high quality, balanced compounds in hit-to-lead
- "Issues in the interpretation, understanding and use of Drug Discovery data" - presentation by Professor Terry Stouch, Adjunct Professor of Chemistry and Biology, Duquesne University and consultant to biotech and pharma
- "Medicinal chemists are people too, and that's a problem" - presentation by Dr Mikel Moyer, VP Molecular Discovery, Epizyme
- Wrap-up - Matt Segall
We look forward to seeing you next time!
